AA - I think and hospital?

My GM received a letter on 26th Sept saying they had received her forms and a decison would be made in appox 11 weeks.

She went into Hospital on Saturday and I am not envisaging an escape in the next day or two.

I have been doing her banking today and there was a payment for what appears to be her AA.

I haven't been to her house to see if there is any mail as the little one has the gastric bug going round and I don't want to infect the elderly/ill.

So - I assume that AA has been granted (even though the letter on the 26th said it was 11 weeks). On Thursday there was no letter and the money went in on 3rd October.

So how do I ring them and let them know she is in hospital (as she doesn't pay the carers when she is in), do I need a special reference number or will her DOB and NINO be sufficient?

Will they accept a call from me if I am not her legal NOK?

You can be in hospital for 4 weeks until your AA is stopped so I wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment.

    Hope she gets better soon.

Edit - Whoops - didn't scroll down. Apparently you need to notify them as soon as someone goes in and then when they come out.

Not sure if they will accept a call from you - just ring and ask if she is too ill to do it herself.

Thank you- she's not too ill (I can do it from her bed and pop her on) didn't think of that.

It was the fact that we haven't received any paperwork saying it was granted - just a payment into her bank account.

    Oh I see :)

Can you make sense of the amount paid to see if it is AA or the bank ref.?

Can you tell if it is new payment ie. not received in previous months?

Perhaps you need to check that it is her AA first

I am sure it is (She has no other income apart from her pension and GF Pension). The reference seems to indicate it is. It looks like it is AA at higher rate back dated to beginning of August from the value - which makes sense.

But as of Thursday the only paperwork we had said it would take 11 weeks to decide - I think I'll see if someone can look after babes and pop down to her flat and see if there is a letter. As long as it's only over 4 weeks I won't worry too much :)
