If it's Wigan to London Euston it won't include a travelcard because that's the end of your booked journey at Euston. If you are onward traveling you can usually book right through to your destination and then a travelcard is included.

Not so - if you are onward travelling on a through ticket a single tube journey (each way on a return) is normally included - that's not a travelcard. A travelcard allows multiple journeys.

From many places you can buy a return ticket combined with a travelcard. Usually (but not always) cheaper than buying the travelcard separately

I've always used the National Rail site and found it excellent. Is there any advantage to using Red Spotted Hanky?

Sorry yes you are correct, I should have said it will allow you to continue your jorney on the underground and not make the unlimited travel a travelcard allow.

    Thank you for the correction.

Yes you get loyality points to redeem for money off on future travel. I have found them to be very good.
