Search Engine Bots

we are setting up a new website, but am i right in thinking that on my home page we need a good list of key words in the text to get noticed by the "bots"
What i have done is compile an alphabetical list of 140 words which embrace our products, lifestyle, location.I now intend to weave these words:rolleyes: into an introductery piece for the home page.

Does anyone know if this is enough, or do i need keys words elsewhere.
Or am i totally barking up the wrong tree:D

Do phrases on other pages help

A Bot will index everything, starting with the homepage and looking at all the links from it to other pages on your site. The more pages you have, and the more links from other sites, the higher up the rankings you will come.
