comps by end date (nosy question)

This is interesting to read, I never knew how other people did it. I literally just go through the forum applying for any I'm interested in regardless of end date.0

I mostly comp by end date and try and get as far ahead as possible. The most I've been ahead is 5 days. You'll have to speak up; I'm wearing a towel0

When I was getting back into comping, I experimented by doing it End Date style, thinking it would ease me back in gradually. Then it got to the last day of the month - and it was like Advents all over again! And so I quickly toddled back over to the nice New Topic View...0

I'm really enjoying seeing how other people comp! I generally try to be at least 2-3 days ahead, but I do try to get further ahead if I have the time.
I don't search though anymore, I just sort by title and go through the pages from whichever date I'm upto at the moment. Then on a night I'll go and do a quick search for any new comps ending the next day0 -
I used to enter by when they were posted, but changed to end date about a month ago. It has certainly payed dividends in terms of number of comps won, as I guess they expire quicker this way.
I am currently only a couple of days ahead, but plan to extend that to about a week ahead by the end of this week, as my hubby is taking me to Copenhagen for a birthday weekend, and I don't want to worry about missing out of comps whilst I am there. (Seriously - what is wrong with me?! :rotfl:) Anyway - wish me luck!
Vanpopple - here are the things that I do to try and mitigate the drawbacks that you mentioned:
1. Not sure you can do anything to avoid this sadly.
2. I go through the daily/weekly and once a day threads at the end of each day to see if any news ones have been added.
3. I raised this on another thread, as I kept missing the Times competitions, and it was suggested that I keep an eye on threads started by SueMaggie (who posts the Times competitions).
4-5. Can't really help you here either!
Anyway - that might help on the dailys/one off's and Times competitions front ..Thanks to all those lovely people who contribute to this website.

Thanks 'boris' - you have given 2 brilliant tips!!!
That i and im sure anybody who doesnt already do it will do it the way you suggest:-
2. I go through the daily/weekly and once a day threads at the end of each day to see if any news ones have been added.
3. I raised this on another thread, as I kept missing the Times competitions, and it was suggested that I keep an eye on threads started by SueMaggie (who posts the Times competitions).
Number 3 didnt even cross my mind - expanding on that idea there are many regular posters whom seem to post some competitions on a weekly/monthly basis from the same companys, for example i have done well with comps posted by chelsea & weeowens in particular, so with your original idea im going to go to their profile page/posts and bookmark them in a daily folder along with 'suemaggie' then that way i can keep a check on comps posted and not miss any due to expiry/early end date etc.,
Many thanks and good luck to everyone:TStill comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
I am just recently back from a break.
My method is:
* Dailies first thing in the morning whilst drinking my morning coffee
* Once the tea is in the oven after work I enter any that end the next day that I would like to win
But I don't have time to enter anymore than this.Dream of being mortgage free....

I'm a newbie to comping and I'm starting today. I see 'dailies' mentioned here, what are they are how do i find those? thanks :-)Oct wins: 1 book, Aramis perfume, £15 Amazon voucher
Started comping in Oct 2012
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions!0 -
If I'm really up to date I like to post by thread start ( so as they're put up) However that's not often so if I'm comping by end date I try to be at least two days ahead, and then try to catch up with a day or two of 'date posted' For example today I am two days ahead in 'end date' and catching up with 'posted on' from 21st September. This does mean I sometimes come across one I 've caught up with on the other one but it suits me.
I don't really do dailies, unless I'm totally up to date, which is pretty much never!0 -
