comps by end date (nosy question)

Hey guys I have only recently came back to comping after a 9 month break, due to stoopid broken computers.

I have started doing competitions by end date and I am wondering how far to go upto. I'm not very good at explaining what I mean but it's like this..

Today is the 06/10 I have entered competitions upto the 10/10 would you or do you go any further than this from todays date?

Have i confused you yet? ;)

Thanks muchly

If I were you and I went further than that, I would at least flick through and see if there were any good ones newly posted that I had missed. With the green ticks, it is easy to see any you have not entered. Good luck.
  • i normally do them at the weekend up until the following saturday then during the week I just have to catch up on the ones posted during the week
  • I'm currently 10 days ahead and I'm planning to get a month ahead to help out when it gets to Christmas. That's the plan anyway, not sure how it'll go :D

I also check everyday for recent postings so I don't miss anything I want to enter.

I'd be interested to hear if other MSErs have tried that at Xmas and if it works out?

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

All depends on how much time you want to spend.

I try and do at least the next days worth (depending how far ahead I get) if theres only 4 pages, I'll do the next day, I try to stick at about 4 days ahead of the date, but sometimes 12 pages of results can be a little mind numbing

Then I just check for any new posts for the days i have already done

    I'm currently 10 days ahead

10 days ahead! You obviously have too much time on your hands, I'm happy if I'm one day ahead. You have to lend me a hand!!

Hi all back after my hols to majorca (thanks to comping! & going again next year to same place in cala d'or, it was stunning)

I only ever play by end date, which can be good but there are definately drawbacks:-
1-I often come to comps that have already expired/ended early etc..
2-I tend to miss any comps that were/are daily entry (one per day etc)
3-Miss most special comps apart from the day im on eg-The Times often do weekend giveaways and comping this way i tend to forget and miss special one off comps like that.
4-Sometimes if im saying doing 07/10 as i would today, often there any many other comps on comp pages and i simply can run out of time hence miss out.
5-You can (as i do) simply never keep up by doing only then next day or 2 ending comps.

    PLUS POINTS
1-You dont have long to wait for notifications if you've won (but again i won one which ended in june and was only told a week before my hol in september.
2-I seriously cant think of another good point of doing it this way.!??

But because of this (which i realised on my hols when i took a break from comping)
Ive slightly changed how i do it,
Id say you need to always be doing the following week (ie-6th today, should be starting on 13th onwards comps)
Also at the end of each nights comping ALWAYS DO A SEARCH ON MSE FOR YOUR CURRENT WEEK (so-7th-12th) to see any ones that have just been posted.

If you ever get a bit behind as i often do soemtimes miss a day - theres always an odd day where theres only a few comps i would enter so quickly do those few and move on.
And dont forget most comps end FRIDAYS/SATURDAYS/SUNDAYS, and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure that you are doing comps that have last day of each month by at least a week before (i had to do this because of my holidays, and had 9 folders of bookmarks with over 1200 comps that ended 30th spetember)
So for end of month comps you need to be well in front..

Good luck and work hard and it WILL pay off.

Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:

I try and keep a couple of days ahead, and do around 5 pages of competitions ending on the last day of the month.
  • I only ever do those that end tomorrow. Never thought about going any further than that. But once Ive done that and my dailies and checked the daily thread I dont have a lot more time to spend comping.
