I have sold an item on ebay that weighs 1.8kg. The size is about 30cm x 30cm x 30cm. I am not sure if the postage is £2.99 or £3.99 on Collectplus. Collectplus prices are upto 2 kilos for £2.99 and £3.99 for upto 5 kilos. I am confused because the according to weight it will be £2.99 but according to height it will be £3.99.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks x

    So put simply
you can send up to 2kg for £2.99,as long as it doesnt exceed the max sizes
    yours does,so its £3.99
  • Thanks custardy, I've just measured it and it is 28cm squared.

I would check the Collect plus website carefully as they do state sizes and that doesn't seem to increase even for heavier weights.

  • Thats what I believed too, they only accept up to one size only, the size does not increase with the weight.

I just looked on collect plus site and it says up to 2Kg is 3.99 which is the same as if you go through Parcel2go. On Parcel2Go you have to put sizes but on the Collect+ site it seems you don't need to.

where are you looking to get 1.8Kg Collect+ postage for £2.99?

    thank you

That's a point, the cheapest I can see for a Jiffy bag is £3.99:

Our straightforward prices include VAT, online tracking and £50 cover. For small items
choose our £3.99 'Jiffy Bag' option and for larger and heavier items we offer a £4.99
'Standard parcel' option up to 5kg or a £6.99 'Heavy parcel' option for parcels up to 10kg.

We accept parcels measuring up to 50x30x30cm and you can send all kinds of things with
Collect+. But, sadly, there are some we have to say no to, such as works of art, money,
glass, liquids and hazardous goods. Please read our terms and conditions for more
    information.

I've just read the terms and conditions. It says less than 2Kg in a Jiffy Bag but I mostly use small cardboard boxes. I've not had a problem with this and the shop always accepts them.
Has anyone ever had a problem because they didn't use a Jiffy Bag?

Sorry it's a little off topic

  • Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. I have to send a baby steriliser in a box to another part of the UK. It is packed and ready to go. I just wanted clarity on the postage, so that I don't pay more than I need to and also for future reference. I think I will call them Monday just to be sure. Thanks everyone xxx

As above, I have sent several boxes, up to the 500 x 300 x 300mm maximum, but under 2kg for £3.99.

Collect+ are now my preferred courier for anything over 1kg

I even spoke to their customer services team, who confirmed dimensions are not important, just weight.

They may have said on the phone that exceeding the dimensions is fine, but you also say you have only sent 'up to' the allowed dimensions.

Personally I would be cautious with this company as their reputation is not brilliant, and make every effort to stick to the dimensions stated as per their terms and conditions which state

    The Company reserves the right to reject a Parcel at the relevant collection point if the Parcel exceeds the weight or dimensions stated here or there is not a valid Label attached;
