My 18 year old daughter has passed her driving test! She is away at uni but wants to drive my car during the holidays. I'm looking for advice on either short term insurance or an insurance company who would add her to my insurance on a temporary basis. My policy is up for renewal this month so can change to another insurer but need to be sure I can add her before I change.
Thank you

The cheapest will be to add her to your policy if you can (though bear in mind you will be risking your NCD whilst she is driving it!)
You need to ask your chosen insurer whether or not they will do this for you.
(The problem about this is that insurers will tell you what their current policy is, and may have changed their mind when you come to make use of the option)0 -
During my time with Admiral I added my 17yo son as a temporary driver for a month or so. £25 per week IIRC. There is a limit to the duration but a couple of months was no trouble.
It was cheaper than adding him as a named driver to the remainder of the policy.
I am sure other insurers must do similar.
Admiral are cheap but I don't like their policy or their business model.

You need to ask when you swap. My insurer wont cover young drivers or leraners.
But they are cheap and cover modified cars. So works for me.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
