The Job Centre work trials last for 4 weeks and yes, they can't force you to do them, but can sanction people for not doing them as it will be noted down in your file as 'failure to take part in work trial'.....the weeks trial for the job described will be the employers decision only, which does sound plausible in some sense, as how else are they going to know you can do the job? plus it also gives you a week to test the job out?
As for cash in hand, it means just that, cash directly into your hand & bypassing the HMRC as sounds like they don't want to declare having any workers, as tax would be needed to be paid...so in a sense you are self employed & are required by law to complete your own self assessment....0 -

the jobcentre has always told me work trials are voluntary and you can actually leave them at anytime without loss of benefit. i know they can send people to work for 4 weeks for their benefit but that is something seperate to work trials isnt it.androidgamer wrote: »The Job Centre work trials last for 4 weeks and yes, they can't force you to do them, but can sanction people for not doing them as it will be noted down in your file as 'failure to take part in work trial'.0 -
I would aviod anything to do ebay sales or selling as a ex powerhouse seller the fees are too high now with final valued fees and listing fees you have to pay weather a item is sold or not
There are new clever scams about from 411 Nigeria scams advertising on total jobs which get picked up by jobcentre direct a guy I hired almost got scammed by here how it works
The scammer advertise there position on these sites like dwp or direct.gov.uk which advertises for good ebay sales
You contact them by email, they ask for a trail setup on a ebay site like ebay aus or ireland
My employee did this sadly and listed a 4x4 power bike for sale on ebay Australia it almost got 10k in austrailan then the supplier supplied the address and different email address(usally gmail account or hotmail) so he checked the address and it shown a roundabout in Australia with no houses so he cancelled the whole auction and kindly told them to go fourth in life in a very colourful but angry way,
But a week later he had to pay back 47 dollars in fees so he learned his lesson
If jobcentre agrue about it tell them you have no correspondence in terms of address and u feel its needs to be checked in terms of what you said here (more employer details and do some checking)
its better then being out of pocket and banned by ebay as a rouge seller"MSE Money saving challenges..8/12/13 3,500 saved so far :j" p.s if i been helpfully please leave me a thank you but seek official advice at all times from a pro0 -

Paid in cash = employer runs a legitimate payroll system, deducts tax and NI from your gross pay, provides you with a payslip, and the method of transferring money to you is by cash rather than cheque or bank transfer etc. All perfectly legal.
Paid cash in hand = you get handed a wad of money, no tax or NI get paid, nothing gets recorded anywhere and you don't ask any questions. Not so legal.0
