Intermittent sound on TV, is it worth paying to repair

My TV has decided to have sound now & then, and sometimes 'not now' for a few hours. Grrr:mad:

Any TV experts (and no,I don't mean transvestites) although if there's a TV tv expert around, I have no prejudices:cool: care to give me any advice.

Is it worth having it repaired, some idea of cost, or should I just bin it?

It's 3 yrs old, wasn't very expensive, Grundig T55-1120.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

  • AHA ! guess wot I used to do for a living ?

Grundigs, when I was in the trade were known for dry joints (poor solder connections ). Don't really think it is worth repair, uneconomical, fix that fault, could be no colour etc, next month !
  • Tv's are so cheap these days it's probably not worth it.

PL, so what did you do retire and sell off all your old frocks?:rotfl:
Nothing to see here, move along.

    OMG have I been 'uncovered'?

    Is it CI?

Are you wondering if I still 'deliver'?:rotfl:

Thanks for that, I don't mind buying a new one but I'm moving house very soon and don't want the problem of removing a new TV and it possibly getting damaged in transit.

Will make do with the portable one I have.

Unfortunately it's a combined tv/video recorder and you can only record the programme you're watching! what a stupid design:mad:

With the new digital thingy coming I was hoping to wait a while before buying, but hum ho.

If your tv is connected through a satelite receiver makke sure it is not a loose connection on the scart lead as this can cause no sound & no vision problems
