Pension Credit Question

Hi guys, I am on pension credit and have been offered one shift a week driving a taxi on a casual basis, probably one morning a week to cover for a guy who has fairly regular hospital appointments. Basically he has offered me a 50/50 split on the takings and I pay for the diesel so we are talking in the region of £30-40 a week.
Now I understand that I must declare this to the DWP do I declare it every week/month ? as the amount will be variable and how should I deal with any tax liabilities and will it affect my housing benefit and council tax claims.

Any money you earn will count as income for Pension Credit purposes and will reduce the amount of money that you receive for PC.
I am not sure how you would declare this as it will be irregular. Best to give them a call and see how often they want you to declare it.
As far as HB and CTB is concerned, if you receive any amount of PC (even a £1) then it will still give you full entitlement to HB and CTB.
Tax liabilities are not my area of expertise so hopefully someone else will be able to help. My guess is that you might have to register as self employed but not sure because of the small amount of money involved.0 -
