Solar Power Monitoreing
Hi , I am getting solar panels fitted soon by "ashadegreener". My question is, what do mse readers suggest the is the best meter to fit, to keep tabs on the generateing figures and actual power useage in the house. That is reasonably priced, but will also do the job:beer:

Most installers will include a portable (wireless) monitor in the pacjage, which will provide current and total generation figures.
Nothing to do with overall power usage though. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Since you are not getting the FIT or export payments does it really matter? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

penhrin there was a reasonable question asked ,and I also am interested in answer ,your reply was of no use and way of the point ,the person asking question knows what info required NOT you.0

You would need a third, Export meter. Then (Solar power - exported power ) + imported grid power = domestic consumption. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

An export meter is not requred for FITS under domestic installs, the proportion fed back to the grid is assumed to be 50% and you are paid accordingly. No free lunch, and no free laptop

As I mentioned, a portable generation meter is usually supplied with a solar PV system-at least it was with mine. It has a wireless link to the inverter. No free lunch, and no free laptop

. Thanks for the back up Zee. As I havealready said, could anyone recomend a meter to fit with my install. The package I am getting from "ashadegreener", they dont actually supply and fit any particular meter. The full package is fitted for free. Am sure you could pick holes in the pro's and cons whether to go for this particular package or not. If I purchase a a meter before the install, then their fitters will fit it! Fair enough! I have been looking at "Wattson Solar Energy Meter", being sold for £89. (http://www.uswitch.com/energy-saving-products/solar-energy-monitors/wattson-solar-plus-solar-energy-monitor?variant_id=154. Could any one suggest a better one for the money , or even cheaper. Yor thoughts would be appreciated. .Thanks

I'm slightly confused, do you mean a main meter?
If so, your supplier will arrange to fit an appropriate meter. The distributor informs them that your site has been upgraded.
Are you entering a FIT payment agreement? If so, the supplier does the meter part.
If you as not entering a FIT payment agreement, you can't touch the main meter to fit something you would benefit from as its not your property.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
