At least you are getting on with your shopping Becks! DS3 says he will look for his presents tomorrow.
I have never heard of pikelets but DH says he thought they were thinner too.
Won a Pringles Speaker earlier too so will put it in DD's stocking if it comes in time.I won a pringles speaker as well... It's on FB advent thread. There are 92,000 of them.lol. I can see me winning one a day,at least I can have them in every room. My son seems impressed with it so he is happy.I am still thinking it's friday i was waiting for a programme to come on till my son said it's not on saturdays.Never mind hopefully I will get the days back in the right order tomorrow.

oh no  you know what i'm like for finding things out if something differsit's like solving a puzzle :rotfl:
pikelets versus crumpets :eek::D
The English crumpet
Crumpets are generally circular roughly 7 cm in diameter and roughly 2 cm thick. Their shape comes from being restrained in the pan/griddle by a shallow ring. They have a characteristic flat top with many small pores and a chewy and spongy texture
Pikelets
A regional variation of the crumpet is the pikelet, whose name derives from the Welsh bara piglydd or "pitchy
[i.e. dark or sticky] bread", later shortened simply to piglydd the early 17th century lexicographer, spoke of "our Welsh barrapycleds".
The word spread initially to the West Midlands, where it became anglicised as "pikelet", and subsequently to Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, and other areas of the north.
The main distinguishing feature of the Welsh or West Midlands pikelet is that it was traditionally cooked without a ring, with an end result rather flatter or thinner than a crumpet

I'm going to try and do as many advents as I can but know it will be hard with baby (and also recovering from C-Section and the M.E) but hoping I have a better December win wise than November (well, I kind of have already. I only won a music download in November but have won two prizes so far this month.).
Hope you all have a lucky December.lomaxsylvia wrote: »Firefly, I knew you would have to get to the bottom of it, its like an itch you have to scratch istn't in LOL. Anyway it explains it as I am from Wolverhampton originally, although I have been about a bit, LOL

Haha, it's funny you should mention the pikelets thing, I was gonna mention this morning when I saw the crumpets....when I had not long since met hubby we had a big debate over them. He argued they were called pikelets and I said crumpets! In the end I took him to the supermarket to show him the skinnier pikelets which clearly stated 'pikelets' and the crumpets stated 'crumpets'
the things you have to do!
Well done on your speaker wins LadyM and ILC :j :j
Was thinking of you earlier LadyM, glad you're ok.I'm excited for you! And remember... It's quite emotional becoming a new mum so give yourself a bit of me time and we're all here for you
Sheils, hope you don't get too stressed over Xmas! Good luck with the advents
I looked at one advent this morning and it said flash required so I guess there's not a lot I can do on iPad!I tried switching my pc on yesterday and it wouldn't come on.
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
Good Evening all. I'm stressed and falling behind because of Advents already, I think I'm going to have to be a lot more selective over which ones I do from now on. I also won a Pringles speaker though, so at least I've had a small win to make it worthwhile.
Well done to all others that have had a win
Not long now LM, bet you can't wait. It's my DHs Birthday tomorrow too, did you know it is 'Stir Up Sunday' tomorrow as well? Time to get those cakes and puddings madeLuck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams
