Pre registered Renault Laguna, good deal ?

I am interested in buying a pre registered Renault Laguna, when driving past my local dealer I saw a pre registered 28/9/06 Laguna 2.0l vvt with 1 mile.
The screen price was £11,500, having checked new values this was a saving of over £5000 on new. The dealer also does 0% finance with no deposit, and yes it really is fully 0%.
This seems like a good deal to me, but was wondering that due to there being so much discount off the new price will I have any room to manouvre in haggling. I feel they will make a play on the fact that they are providing free finance and will not budge. In summary

1. Is this a good deal

2. Do you think I have any hope in getting more off or extras thrown in

3. What extra's should I try to push for

4. Any tips in achieving points 3 & 4

Thanks in advance

Lagunas are cheap for a reason....................

The price you have is pretty good, but out of this world. Laguna is due to be replaced soon, and has such a bad reptutation that they have to discount like this to sell them. If its on a dealer fourcourt then you should be able to get a little bit more off, however if you want the 0% deal then not much hope.

Are you sure you will really get the 0% deal? This is usually only applicable to you when buying a new car, pre regs are normally expemt from any of these type of promotions, and also in part why they are cheaper.

Definately on a 0% finance, interestingly enough I searched tha car comparisson sites(on line broker from martins list) and found a pre registered 07 model for £9,999. Has anyone got any experience of using these on line prices to further haggle down a dealer ?

It's true - AutoExpress recent survey had them low down with lots of repairs etc... try a Skoda Octavia - my other half has one and they came out top!

Agree, buy something else, anything but a Laguna.

To be honest after having read the reviews it seems the main problems are with the diesels and a lot of the problems have been ironed out.I only tend to keep new cars for the 3 years they are under warranty so I should be okay. I cant find antoher car in its class that I could purchase new for £11,500 before further haggling and the added bonus of 0% finance is there as well with no deposit

I take your point about the warranty - I tend to do the same, but its still a pain in the ar*e booking you car in every couple of months, or being left stranded in the rain on the side of the motorway.

Even the top man at renault admitted their cars were crap and that they really needed to up their game in terms of quality / reliability.

I think that the octavia is available with 0% at the moment???

Mondeo has ceased production so you would likely get a cracking deal on a stock model, and it wont let you down and may still be worth a bit in 3 years time.

The Octavia is at 0% however you need a 30% deposit so it will be in the region of £4000, money that could be better used gaining interest in my bank. The Renault offer is nil deposit from a very respectable Renault dealer with very good customer serevice.

So back to my original point, what extra things could I haggle out of them, has anyone managed to get free servicing or an extended warranty out of the dealer ?

I,ve had two and never had a problem with either, now back to my original queries...... has anyone managed to reduce the price of a vehicle further by quoting an on-line price or if the dealer wouldnt budge on price manage to get a free service or extended warranty ?

oldbill - every dealer is different and they will all have different margins on each car so there i sno way you can guage what you are going to get / not get on a forum like this. The only way that you will establish what you can get is to go in and try. You are not obliged to buy just because you have been in. Tell them you are serious and see what they offer. If its not as good a sthe online deals then walk away and buy from them.
