I need some advice please, when I take the mains lead out of my laptop the screen goes very dark. I can still just about see the screen but it is to dark to read anything and cannot see the cursor but it is not blank.

check power saving settings
on some laptops there is a key combinations eg Fn + fxxx or up arrow to up the brightness, but the cause is power saving settings.!!

My macbook does this i just have to press the button that brightens it up again.0
