refund question

Currently I am awaiting the return of an item for a refund. I need to withdraw the current funds in my paypal account which will only leave a couple of quid in there.
When the item is returned, can I refund anyway and the balance needed will be taken from my bank account, or do I need to leave the cash in paypal to cover the whole refund amount?

it will be taken from your bank account in the same way a payment would be made if there was no funds in your paypal0
