Housing benefit/JSA

I have already asked loads of questions regarding my redundancy and what i should claim. Just been looking around the boards and realised i forgot to say that i am going to get payment in lieu of notice (2 or 3 weeks ithink)
That said should i not bother claiming JSA/Housing benefit until that payment in lieu has run out? As surely they will just take it as though i am still earning as normal. Same goes for tax credits. Should i wait until the payments run out before mentioning the redundancy and trying to claim?

no put the claim in straight away as it can take a few weeks to process, they will take the payment in lieu into account but by the time that money runs out you should start to receive JSA etc0

Be prepared to be underwhelmed with the amount of money you receive after redundancy as I recently found out !!ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

ALways always claim straight away ... benefits are always (claimed)paid from the date of claiming and some after a delay period (9 months mortgage interest).
You are deemed to be not unemployed till you sign all the forms.. whatever the real situation istribuo veneratio ut alius quod they mos veneratio vos0 -
yes you should definately always claim straight away as you will wait weeks and weeks for the idiots to sort out your claim, if you dont claim straight away you could wait a couple of months for money.0

There are some very good reasons for claiming straight away.
The first is for your NI Stamps.
The second is for any insurance policies you may have that cover you if you are unemployed
The third is that you may be entitled to benefit.
Even if you have PILON, make that claim.0
