What has happened to my mains gas discount

My home is not connected to a mains gas supply and I have always received a credit on my bill entitled "no mains gas discount" my most recent bill is missing this.... Why could this be? Should I raise a complaint? Seems a bit random...

Have you asked the supplier? What did they say?

More appropriately why should there be a discount in the first place?

Well other people have access to a dual fuel discount. I would regard it as fairly equivalent.

You only get that if you take both services of a single supplier.
Anyhoo, what did your supplier say?

I do take all my supply from a single provider. They said it was registered to my account and should be applied to my bill. The operator didn't know why it hadn't been applied. Very helpful indeed! :D

Is it a way to grab customers from other suppliers by offering this as they are unable to access a dual fuel discount?

An Electricity Bill Saver discount is available to customers supplied by EDF Energy in the Seeboard, SWEB and London regions with no mains gas supply and who have an active electricity account. Customers will receive a discount equivalent to £8.40 (£8.00 excluding VAT) per annum, which will be credited to the account on a pro-rated basis in line with the customer’s billing frequency.

That's weird, I'm sure I get more than £8. The discount normally covers the VAT on my bill which is why I noticed it was missing. I also received it on my bills with Southern. I have no idea where those regions are? I would call my region "Southern" if I was comparing rates in a table.

I get £20 no mains gas discount (ex VAT) per year.

I think it was something brought in by ofgem a couple of years ago. Suppliers have to give it to customers in their old host regions who can't get dual fuel discount.

I'm with E.ON in the old EMEB region.
