Universal Credits - Self Employed

Its not written in stone yet. If they go with white paper, then unemployment would rocket.
More likely we will see the true figures of unemployment. Tax Credits just masked these figures. Some people set up a business that they didn't really work at as they just wanted welfare (Tax Credits) to fund their lifestyle; while also avoiding the conditions that jobs seekers have to meet.
Under Tax Credits it was too easy for them just to file a claim once a year; watch the money just roll in to their account every 4 weeks; and proclaim that 'tax credits aren't really welfare payments'.
Under UC they will have to claim every month; meet conditions such as jobseekers do under the present system; and be left in no doubt that UC are income based welfare payments.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I don't like keeping lazy people, full stop.
Yeah, sack all the MP's for a start. Lazy scrounging parasitic !!!!!!s...:D0 -
tbf it's not all down to the claimants, TC's were pushed as 'you could both (parents)work p/t and get your money made up' my ex said at the time it was completely unsustainable.
btw not all self employed are lazy and work shy, some have never claimed TC's or any kind of benefit and seem to get by - mind you I work 70+ hours a weeks so possibly not the best example of a good work/life balance

So it will be a good thing all round for the UK
You can't help but wonder what will happen when you see all the riots and civil unrest around Europe from all the cuts and austerity, will we see more breakdown on our shores?
No lol ....but on the plus side it will not effect camerons drinking buddies.
As for riots maybe.
Unless they change the self employed part of white paper. Its looking very grim on these shores.
Self employed people do employ other people.
Self employed people can be trading over and just under the vat threshold.
Both these groups of people could be on WTC. Its a serious matter if these two groups were to be forced to close there businesses down. Thats just a couple of examples.
There is no mention of turnover in white paper.(turnover is good for the economy). There is a mention of cash in cash out but seems a bit sketchy and its effect on the new UC scheme.
This is defo not going to work if they do not also consider the good that self employed do for the economy.0 -

So it will be a good thing all round for the UK. But it is going to be a huge fundamental change and lots of families who are presently struggling will be really struggling when these cuts come in.
The healthy choosing to live on longterm welfare, was always a gamble. Benefits change. They use to be a short term support; then they became a lifestyle for some and now they are returning to being a short term support for those in need (as they should be).You can't help but wonder what will happen when you see all the riots and civil unrest around Europe from all the cuts and austerity, will we see more breakdown on our shores?
We have sterling as our currency and not the Euro. We will still struggle if the Euro gets worse as we have loaned a lot to France and France have loaned heavily to some of the Euro PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) but Cameron has said he will protect the UK (from the EU) if he has to. He has already proved he will do this when he used his veto to stop the Eurozone from trying to grab London's money to pay for 95% of the Euro bailout - all errors that the Euro countries made/are making. When the French government made another attempt to try to grab London's money to bail out the Euro, the traders in London, NY and HK, worked together and quickly blocked France.
Just be grateful we don't have Tony (I'll sign anything you want, but what's in it for me) Blair, in charge of the UK now.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

You never see a farmer on a bike.
EU farming handouts are very generous plus there are all the extra payments that can be applied for. i.e.- Dig a hole in the corner of a field where crops never really grow anyway and you will get paid a very generous payment. The rain will fill it and it can then be a pond for wildlife. Plus if you put fish in it, you can charge fishermen to fish there.
- £500 per acre not to grow suger beet, but you can grow something else there instead. The EU had too much sugar beet: and anyway, sugar cane (cheap imports) provide better yields than sugarbeet.
- Don't cut the road side of your field hedges and we will give you extra handouts. British birds can then nest there. Then they stopped the culling of sparrowhawks and they killed the birds instead.

If it goes through there will be a lot of people quitting selfemployment and going on the dole. Unemplyment will shoot up.
nope, the true figures will be revealed, until the Government find another way to 'massage' the figures.Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe.
