Missing wages!!

Hi, i am looking for some advice. I was due to be paid by my employer last thursday 27/09/12 but my wages didnt go in. Discovered that as i worked for the same company until feb this year then returned in august they didnt bother to update the system with my details on my new starter form i was asked to fill in. They paid my wages into the account they already had on record for me which is my old account and was closed in june. It is now 05/10 and i still havent been paid. The bank are saying they dot have it and my employer is sayig they havent recieved it back yet, feel like i am been called a liar and their implying ive had it already. I dont no what to do
i was supposed to be getting paid today (the director of the company said he will sort it) but still havent recieved it. I am now been asked to get a letter from the bank stating i do not have the money and my account is closed! I bank with halifax. Is there anywhere the money may have gone? It was definitely the account number and sort code of my closed account. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Halifax will have returned the payment to source. As the account is now closed.
So it should be sat either back in their account. Or with their bank.
Your employer needs to sort it out with their bank. As it is their error.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
You can't really do anything. Your company needs to sort it out, and pay you any out of pocket expenses (such as bounced DDs, etc) as they didn't carry out your instructions - you gave them the correct details and they ignored them and used incorrect ones.
Ask them if they have any emergency cash - I remember the company I worked for didn't setup a new employees payment on time, so they gave him £250 until it was sorted a few days later.0 -
Could have gone into a suspense account at Halifax.I work for Natwest.0

If you gave the employer a different sort code and a/c number and they didn't update their system it's entirely their fault. Their request that you get a letter from your bank 'proving' you don't have the money is unreasonable of them.
As has been said it will be in a suspense account.
In the meantime they need to pay you. You can do nothing to get the money they paid in error back to them, it's out of your hands entirely; they need to chase it.
And, in the interim they should be covering costs you're incurring.
Somebody, who failed to check your details, is probably in for a verbal or written warning!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

If the error wasn't your fault then your employer should pay you pending them being reimbursed.
If they paid you by BACS then their bank should provide them with a BACS trace which will help to find the missing funds. If the beneficiary bank are holding the funds then they should return them once the trace has been produced, or give a reason why they can't return them.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
