mcdonalds parking fine.

Hi, i have heard from some of my friends and colleges that these fines are pointless? i received one for being literally 5 minutes over the limit of 90 minutes, this was because i had a flat Tyre on my car and i had to change it to my spare, obviously this took some time. anyway i didn't even receive the first letter so the bill was straight away £75 i wrote them a letter discussing the situation and they reduced ti back to £50 and said i needed proof, i then gave the mechanic who came and rescued me a ring and he said send the receipt to them, so i did. they refused this and sent me the next payment and then the next so in total i payed £100 for 5 minutes.
i spoke to a friend who said he received one of these fines and just left it, he said they send scary threatening messages saying they were going to take them to court, but then nothing came through?
i just want to know if this is true or not?
the company was MET parking.
thanks, Jared.

That's true, they can be ignored. Please read some other threads on here for further reassurance. And, by the way, it's not a fine, it's an invoice.

I am afraid there is no way of getting your money back unless you want to sue them in court. You have just learned a very expensive lesson.

You should have listened to your freinds, the only option is to go to court to try and get your money back, you could also try the Local Mc donalds franchise, saying you felt threatened and intimidated into paying. but realisticly theres not much you can do.

Oh dear, and the fact you are still wondering if you could appeal for the money back shows that you were still thinking this was a legit operation. At least you will know it's a scam next time and can tell your friends so they never fall for this themselves.
