Just planting some container grown blackcurrant bushes in the garden. The advice on the net is to prune them back after planting but I'm worried I'll cut too much and end up with a bunch of dead twigs. Advice anyone?
Cheers.

    Cheers.

Plant them deep and cut them right down. You are aiming to get new stems appearing from below ground and the way to encourage that is to plant with buds beneath the soil level.

It looks rough when you do it, but it's the best way and if you are lucky, the prunings can become parent plants. Just plant them separately in the ground, or in pots, and they will often root and form new bushes.
