Best Plumbing/Drain Insurance?

Big Hello to fellow MoneySavers everywhere!

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't easily find it.

I've been thinking about getting plumbing drain/insurance after getting a flyer through the post from Severn Trent. They are offering up to £2K of emergency cover for £2.99 a month or £35.88 per year (£4.99/£59.99 if after 29th April 2005).

Anybody know a better deal or have any views on whether such policies are worth it anyway?

Thanks

- Terry

I see it's increased again ! .... the premium, that is, under the guise of 'double cover'. It is now £79.99 p.a. from HomeServe ( via the water supplier United Utilities )

Today, I checked with my Buildings insurers about the sewage junction chamber in my garden and then contacted HomeServe. Legal and General would offer some protection ( but not 'fair wear' deteriation ) whereas H/S would not cover it at all.
So I decided to cancel the HomeServe policy but was put through to Customer Services and the young lady uttered those famous words "Let me have a word with my manager", ostensibly to check the cover offered .... and came back with "I have permission to give you a discount - same policy and cover ( but not the chamber ) for £44.99 p.a."
That was a 43% discount for a simple enquiry and a request to cancel.
    I think the cover I have now for £3.89 p.m. is a steal !
