Hotmail spam question ...

I've got a hotmail account that I use sparingly. Just opened an email in there which was a delivery notification failure. I opened it (perhaps stupidly) and it was to some random guy about a job.

I've checked my sent folder and there's about a dozen emails in there, all about jobs (I haven't opened them, can see this from the email addresses) to people I don't know.

I'm running a scan of the p.c that has picked up a few infected files, even though I only did a full system scan on Wednesday.

Is there anything else I should do? Should I be worried about passwords etc?

Since the spam is actually in your sent folder this indicates that someone has got your password to be able to send mail from your account.
Therefore you need to change your password, after you have changed the password you should then log back in and review the Security information, such as your secret question and the password reset emails as it is possible any spammer has also changed those so they could reset your password.

You should also give your computer a scan with malwarebytes if you haven't already to rule out any malware.

If no malware is found can you think of any time where you have, say, clicked a link and been asked for your password? that is how most email account are compromised.

I've never given any password out, nor have I really used this particular email address except for survey sites but I haven't used them in months now. It's a mystery, really.

I will check for malware. Thanks
