VW CC Radio Code. Do they have one?

Hi all
I've recently bought an ex-demonstrator car from a VW dealer. As part of the sale it was agreed I would get the radio code and they would request this from VW direct.
Well, the dealer has come back to me and said that on modern cars there is no radio code. There exact response is:
"You don't need it nowadays as the system is linked to the car so if for any reason the radio is disconnected, when it's reconnected it will just reconnect to the car."
I was surprised by this as I thought radio codes were standard in most, if not all cars. Also, I've always been given them before on all previous cars too; albeit Ford, Peugeot, Vauxhall.
The car is a 2012 (12 plate) VW CC with the RNS 510 audio system.
Has anyone heard this before; is it true or am I being told a fib?
Many thanks

yes quite normal the radio talks to the body computer and so long as its the original radio they shake hands and it works
no code needed
obviously i cant say this is right for your car but this is the norm
its one of the few benefits of canbus0 -
I took my radio out (a cheapo RCD300) of my VW Touran last week to fit a new ipod connector to the back. Disconnected the battery, like it said I should. I fitted it back and didn't need a code.
It says as much in the manual.
If you were considering selling the unit to someone else, you (they) would obviously need the code.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
Thanks sb/brat.
I've checked the manual (should have done that before, woops) and your spot on. It will work as long as the system stays in that exact car.
