HTC/Android unable to access from PC

I have a HTC Wildfire on Android 2.2.1. At some point (not sure when) I seem to have lost the ability to connect it to my laptop (Win 7) and have the PC access the phone's data as an external hard drive. I've played around with the Connect to PC settings but whatever I try it never seems to do anything other than charge the phone.
Any thoughts on why this might be happening or suggestions on how to get the connection to work again?

Cheers, had a quick look at it and if I can't get the USB connection sorted out then I might well give it a try.0
