A Seller I have contacted through ebay who sells solid wood sleeper furniture (namely TV stand and coffee table) has agreed to do sell me two bespoke pieces. Is it okay for me to send him the money via paypal for these two items? He has not listed them on ebay as they are bespoke and I am not purchasing them through ebay, just that I saw his work and liked it and contacted him through there.
They are costly and I just want to know if I sent him the money direct circumventing ebay if I have any protection

Depends whether he invoices for the items which you pay or you send the money as a gift.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

All he needs is your email address.Get him to detail as much as he can about the items on the invoice.
All he has to do then is send you a 'money request' for the amount.
You will be totally covered for non-delivery,damage etc BUT....
As it is a bespoke item i don't know where you would stand in a SNAD case though!Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
As long as the transaction is for "Goods" and not as a "Gift" you should be fine. The other thing to consider is how long do you expect the bespoke order to take to complete? Will you still be within Paypal's time limits for raising a dispute if you're unhappy for any reason?0

Thanks guys, looking at his work and his sketch I doubt I would SNAD. Also thanks for the reminder of the time limit, delivery is expected before 21 days.
Thanks all0 -
If they are bespoke, just ensure he doesn't use the words 'custom' made or similar, as these fall outside of any protection.0

Custom goods are now covered by buyer protection."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
