Not used the company mentioned but I book a lot of UK self-catering holidays and virtually all the agents' websites now add insurance to the booking by default. There is a convoluted way to remove it (which I always do as we have our own comprehensive policy).

If this company refuse to take bookings without paying for their insurance, check the prices of the same holidays with other companies.

I know this may sound slightly off topic (although I assure you it isn't) but people don't really understand the need for travel insurance in the UK but there is a need, especially if you have health problems.

I am a nurse in a regional cardiac centre which is near a tourist area, often in the summer months we have patients admitted as emergencies whilst on holiday, obviously these patients are far away from home, the NHS does not provide any transport to get these patients home once they are medically fit and as they can be a few hundred miles from home, they suddenly realise just how expensive it is to get home, or incovenient to get a member of their family or friend to come and get them.

It's not something I had ever personally thought of myself but we have had situations where we have had to get the patient's PCT to authorise funding for transport to take patients across country on discharge and then the PCT will cross charge this to you. So it is worth bearing in mind as you never know when you may be taken ill

Yup, but the default insurance is miles dearer than you can get separately.
