Barclays & Nationwide?

Hi I wanted to share my PPI claiming experience.
In 1998 I took out a loan to get married. £5K over 5 Years. I was told by Barclays I had to take out PPI to get the loan.
After all I’ve heard about reclaiming I decided to write a letter to Barclays. Still have the same account with them. I didn’t really hold out much hope of getting the money back but I thought it worth a try & worth the price of a stamp.
Anyway, after about 2 weeks I got a letter saying they were investigating. Yesterday I checked my bank online to find that they had repaid £475!! Payment states PPI refund! I could not believe my eyes!
So my advice is its definitely worth a try. If you have a similar situation.
Now for a question
I had a Nationwide Mortgage when I got married that we were told the same thing. This was opened about 15 Years ago. I don’t have any paperwork now. How would I go about claiming this? Is it possible?
Thanks for reading......

That timescale and amount would indicate it is an autopayout. It doesnt mean you were mis-sold or that they agree it was mis-sold. it is just cheaper for them to pay out.I had a Nationwide Mortgage when I got married that we were told the same thing. Mortgage insurance has a far lower chance of success. Usually because it is set up correctly in most cases (monthly premium is good, single premium is bad) and it is covering a major debt which is lifechanging if you dont pay it. Also, most of them are put in force under advice (FOS stats for 2011/12 show just 0.2% of PPI complaints they reviewed were advised - this is not seen an advice issue). Plus, if you used a broker for the mortgage then regulation for most of them only started in 2005. Lenders and firms tend to investigate mortgage insurances much more thoroughly than loan or credit card.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
