Hi peeps,
Does anyone know where to get a used A2 printer? Or any recommendations etc. It's for printing my architectural studenty stuff.

(not sure where to post this)

Best bet is ebay - not cheap though!

an a2 printer is going to be expensive to buy and expensive to run - does the uni not have a plotter you can use or use a printers to do it when you need to (and start using a1 or a0 sheets as they'd be cheaper to print than multiple a2s)
otherwise I would go the other way and get an a3 printer which would be cheaper to buy and run

had plans to share the cost with another student or several. Would it perhaps work out cheaper over the course of two years as it costs around £9-15 per sheet to plot.

Have a look round your local area, there's probably a local printers or computer shop who've realised the gap in the market.

Could you use an A4 printer for your drafts and stick 4 sheets together to make an A2, while you're working stuff out, then just pay for the final prints that you're handing in?
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

does the uni seriously not have a plotter to use that's cheaper than that?
we had a terrible one in the computer lab but it did a job! then after i worked in an office i just used to pester them to let me use the colour plotter in there (the other place that used to let you do cheap A0 prints was a map shop we discovered had a big plotter!)

you're probably looking at somewhere around the £500 quid mark for a second hand one (or at least this was the case a couple of years ago when i was looking) then you've got paper and ink on top, and depending on the model, things like print heads to worry about too

can't see it being a worthwhile exercise tbh

True true, I suppose I will be against getting one for now. Will prob do a3 sheets sticked together for pin ups and large ones for finals.

HP do an entry level Designjet 70 which can be had for around £650 new, so should be under £500 second-hand but it doesn't get brilliant reviews.
