Not sure if this is the right board but here goes. I have been recording Deal or No Deal on Channel 4 for years onto my Panasonic DVD recorder from Sony Bravia but for the last two days I have been unable to play it. The screen says No Signal and the display on the recorder says NAV1 although I believe it has recorded as the timer is ticking away and it shows up on the guide. I have retuned both the tv and the recorder and I am able to receive Channel 4 on the tv o.k. Any suggestions please? Thank you

Model numbers of both? I don't think you're recording FROM the tv, you're recording from the tuner inside the Panasonic. The Panasonic model number doesn't end in EX75 or 85 by any chance? Might be a cheap capacitor that has failed and can be replaced cheaply if you're getting 'No Signal' on the Panasonic.0

Model numbers
How are the TV and recorder connected?
Which device is the aerial connected to?
Have you been recording this to the same DVD for all this time, or Are you accumulating all the episodes on different discs?
If the DVD screen says NAVI (not NAV1), that shows it's reading the Direct Navigator. No signal on the TV screen suggests the TV isn't getting an RF signal from the DVD recorder - have you got them connected by SCART or RF lead?0 -

But can you get it on the recorder okay? Do bear in mind that your recorder would function just was well if the TV wasn't involved at all. It doesn't matter what you can get through your TV's tuner if the recorder's tuner isn't working.0 -

surely that's the point, the OP can't tell what's playing back from the recorder because they get the no signal message... So we need to know how it's all hooked up. Or the OP tries the recorder with a different TV....0 -
A pvr would be my suggestion!!

Thank you everyone. I am not technically minded (elderly widow) but will give as much info as possible. Panasonic DMR-EZ48VEB: Sony Bravia KDL-32BX300. I have used the same disc for about 2 months (delete it each day). I don't know anything about SCART or RF lead or pvr, sorry. The lead from the Panasonic goes into HDMI 1 on back of tv. The aerial goes into Panasonic. I recorded something on BBC 2 yesterday and also recorded Deal or No Deal from Channel 4 + 1 (13) both successfully so there is a way round it onto the disc I have been using.0

SCART is a big plug, about 2 inches long with lots of tall pins. Seems you have HDMI instead (HDMI is better) so you don't need to worry about that. RF is the wire coming out of the wall into the Panasonic going to your aerial.
PVR is Personal Video Recorder, which would be like your Panasonic, but instead of your DVDs and Videos, just has one massive disk inside that you can't take out (a Hard Disk Drive).
So, as has you've been told above, this has nothing to do with your TV. The Panasonic has a tuner, that's why the aerial is plugged into it.
I can't really think of a reason why the recording wouldn't have worked for a couple of days, then has worked again. The only thing I can think of is if there was bad weather, this could make the signal that little bit worse, but I'd expect you to get horrible break up in the picture and sound before just getting no signal at all. You could maybe try buying another blank disc. It takes DVD+ or - RW so you can get either.0 -
The no signal message suggests that either the DVD wasn't sending an HDMI signal to the TV, that the OP had selected another HDMI input, or that the HDMI lead is faulty.
I'd suggest that the OP gets a few DVD-RAM or DVD-RW discs and rotates them, rather than re-recording the same one permanently.0 -
Thank you everyone for your time. I have tried recording Channel 4 and Channel 4 + 1 and now both channels are recording o.k. All a bit of a mystery as I haven't done anything new but I will alternate the discs as suggested in case it happens again.0

Every year or so, switch everything off and unplug and reconnect the HDMI cable. Or if the same problem occurs again, do so.
I don't think the same disc was the actual problem, but if you do re-use the same one to excess, it will fail eventually, as my OH discovered with one or two DVD-RAM discs0
