a few questions...echeques & items that do not sell?

hi there,

i've just joined the site, seems really great! glad someone told me about it :j

im fairly new to selling on ebay and just had a few questions, hope someone can help me out? on my listings i say i only accept paypal and cheques but someone has just sent me a 'Pending eCheque Instant Purchase Payment' and it says 'This eCheque Payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds have cleared from the sender's account, which usually takes four working days'. Does anyone know about echeques? is it a bit like paypal?

also, when you list items that do not sell do you still have to pay the listing fee and any other extras u have paid for?

i probably seem inexperienced with all of this, but you've gotta start somewhere havent u!

thanks, Karfy xxx

ECheques:- Are a bit of a pain (esp for buyer in the end) they take 10 days to clear in my experience. Its a form of paypal payment. My items are low value and I now just send them straight away saves me on admin hassle. But of course leaves me at risk.

On first relisting you will get back yoor listing fee but not the extras.

if it doesn't sell and you don't relist then, yeah, you have to pay all the listing fees

You don't automatically get the listing fee back on the second attempt. It is only paid back if it actually sells the second time, if it remains unsold the second time as well then you lose both sets of listing fees.

As for echeques, horrrible things. Firsly make sure your buyer meant to send one, paypal had problems a while ago and were sending echeques rather than paypal payments. However, I refunded the one I had and the buyer repaid and i got a proper paypal payment the second time.

Otherwise, as has already been said they can take 10 days to clear (working days) and definitely don't send the goods until you receive notification that it is clear.

Paypal kindly sent me 3 echeques for me..... I did not know until later that is what they had done. All the sellers were fine, I contacted them when I found out what had happened, 2 waited until it had cleared and the other sent the goods straight away anyway , going on my feedback! Took a chance there then!!!!

I your item doesnt sell you wil still have to pay ..they get all ways!

Enjoy ....we were all beginners once.
