Halifax o/d with CCJ

Recently opended (June) a halifax reward account. They gave me a £200 overdraft. Was going to let it run for 3 months and then apply for a larger limit in october. Its been run well and a fair bit of money (well in excess of the required £1000/month) has been in and out of the account since then.

Was going to apply for extended overdraft yesterday except a company have landed an (incorrect) CCJ against me also yesterday. I will get it set aside but this will take time and could do with o/d as soon as possible. Will itmake any difference to application?

I don't know, it may be worth talking to them. Halifax gaveme an o/d even though I had a CCJ on my file at the time, and then agreed to subsequent requests for an increase (up to £3000!!)

I guess everyone's situation is different, and I can't say why they were happy to give me one despite my awful credit history at the time. (Actually I probably can say why-they made a mint out of me!) Thankfully I've cleared it now.

You've probably thought this through already but Halifax o/d charges are pretty horrendous...it might be worth exploring other options available to you if you have any.

    Good luck.

You say you was landed a ccj yesterday and that its incorect

Why is it incorrect, when did it lodged and on what basis are you applying to have it set aside?
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
  • What has that got to do with whether or not they would give me an overdraft with a ccj??

It is incorrect because the court did not adhere to the correct dates and have not taken into account the filed acknowledgement of service and thus have found in default even though I have filed the acknowledgement and defence correctly. Its debatable if I even owe the money anyway.

or they may of thought that your defence was just full of it?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • If the court cant even play by their own rules what chance have we got?

Still looking for credit then? Looks like things haven't really improved since April.

They won't remove it based on that alone, they may not offer further credit based products which is the same with any financial company.

They would only remove the overdraft if the client was declared bankrupt and even then after 12 months or so once the dust has settled they can be re-applied for.

If it is a mistake about the CCJ then your credit file should be altered and corrected accordingly.
