windows authentication keys

My son has a netbook which used to run windows 7, it has the validation sticker underneath as usual.
He tried to remove a virus and in doing so has managed to wipe the hard drive and all traces of windows.
Anyway we have an xp disc and a vista disc both oem and both registered to other computers.
The question is can I install either of those using the windows 7 key attached to the netbook?

Forget about the other discs. He can just reinstall Windows 7. Make and model number?
  • No. Completely different key. Here are links to Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate DVD ISO images from Microsoft. Download the one you have a licence for for the netbook, burn the disc image to a DVD on another computer and install it.

You think a Netbook will have a licence for one of those??

Why would you post such a thing for a novice?

It's a netbook he will need starter, and he probably won't have an external dvd either
Edit: pressed wrong key , OP does he still have the recovery partition ... you will need to tell us what the make / model is

Also no need to burn the image to a DVD. I have sent instructions to the OP via PM, though we could still do with the make and model.

Seems suegoo has fallen asleep on the job.

Did he completely wipe the disk, or is the factory restore partition still there.

What happens when it is switched on?

Hi all, sorry had to go to bed. Its a Toshiba n500 no dvd drive. The hd was totally blank he had formatted it I really don't know what he was thinking.

I have actually installed Ubuntu from a usb stick using Yumi, so not a total novice. But he finds it really difficult to use and I must admit I am a bit lost with it myself.
Following Niftys instructions at the moment.

Some netbooks have Home Premium on.

Its not hard to download an ISO and create a disc from it and there are plenty of Youtube videos the OP can follow.

Yeah.... not only Home Premium, but a optical disc drive too. That would be a laptop. What are you thinking?

Netbook = Windows 7 Starter(more than ninety nine times out of a hundred) and no optical disc drive.

Create a disc/DVD?? They clearly need a Bootable USB drive.

It would have been easier to enquire as to the COA info, than to mis-direct.

Apologies for appearing harsh, but you claim to sell computers, so you really should know better.
