Hello,
I've noticed numerous threads regarding the purchase of property in Bulgaria. Could anybody enlighten me as to what has caused this recent trend?
I'm just interested as it seems that so many people are wanting to do it!
Thanks.

Seen as an opportunity to make some money from an increase in property prices?0

Just joined the EU = possible, nice weather = Greece, ex communist = cheap, no I don't have any investment plans in that direction, but I nearly started to talk myself into it.0

Prices in Spain are getting to UK heights; Turkey is not part of the EU & so still considered a bit risky by some; Bulgaria is still very cheap; Not too far to travel; Beautiful areas in the country; Nice climate:0

LOL.
I'd hazard a wild guess that prices are relatively cheap compared to the rest of Europe and that there is scope for considerable HPI. In other words they are doing it to make money.

Often though things are cheap for good reason, I wonder whether prices will hold up after the speculators have lost interest.0 -
A colleague of mine was interested primarily because its cheap and has good growth potential, but he got cold feet. Told me its still a bit corupt out there in that you have to pay everybody to make things happen. Decided to much risk / hardwork0

I think amanda lamb has a lot to answer for on this one.
A place in the sun? A pile of bricks and some collapsing roof in the mountains ( not skiiable) bargain at 34k
Who on earth will these properties be sold to once they are renovated by brits? Another dumb brit I presume I cant see bulgarians being able to afford such "bargains" Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Quite! It makes you wonder whether people would still be so eager to buy these places if it wasn't for programmes like Place in the Sun. Nothing like the power of the media to make people think something's a good idea
Lynz, how's the new job going by the way? Still enjoying it?0 -
