    You sure?
I suggest that lozzabeth checks that out rather than guessing or making assumptions.
I've just tried confused.com and they didn't ask.
Ok that isn't extensive research but jsut to prove a point that this all appears to be guesswork.

Right. Claim history is not a common underwriting feature for travel insurance. There is no CUE travel.
  • Travel Claims Services are part of Insure & Go - Insure & Go have a dire feedback from policyholders (google insure & go and you will see what I mean.

Unfortunately when you buy travel cover under the auspices of a well know and respected household name provider, eg John Lewis, Debenhams etc they are only fronting the policy - you need to bury down to see who actually are the underwriters - if its Insure & go - I for one wouldn't touch them with a pole, barge or otherwise.

I copped a travel claim a while ago and Travel Claims Services were absolute rubbish, firstly not acknowledging receipt of the claim for over a month, only after I had to chase them - then they said there was paperwork missing (although that was not the case as the necessary receipts were enclosed and stapled to the claim form). Then they said the claim would not be paid, so I had to educate them and explain the policy wording did actually cover the incident I was claiming for, then they agreed but said the claim would fall within the excess - again I explained the excess did not apply in my case - after several weeks of phone calls and dealing with idiots they sent me a cheque for the full amount of the claim. You need also to be mindful your policy will almost certainly auto renew so if you dont want to have any further business with them let it lapse at renewal by notifying them in good time.

I've never noticed any travel insurance policies I've taken out asking about previous history and issuing anything like a no claims bonus. Existing medical problems are normally never covered - regardless of whether or not you ever made a claim against a policy or not.

I know, I should have done my homework first :( I'll have a look at ACE Europe as one of the other members recommended

Yes same as me, they obviously don't understand their own medical jargon.

Thanks for this tip, I'll make sure I cancel well ahead.

You're correct I am making assumptions that my future premiums will rise due to having made a claim, as I thought it would be the same as car / household insurance, however I have no facts to base this upon. Fingers crossed it doesn't.

Thanks for all your comments / advice :)
