Fisher Price stride to ride walker

Our son is now 11 months old and after doing some research we decided to buy the stride to ride walker to aid him learning to walk.

Got it from Argos today and put it together but as soon as he walks with it it is far too quick and runs away from him.

Can anybodu recommend an alternative please, something that doesn't run away from him!

Thanks

Hi Gambler, I really don't like walkers. If fact I hate them. Its your choice but I don't think the help with walking.

This is a common thing with walkers. Also they don't let the child develop the prerequisites to walking. Like crusing furniture, pulling themselves up from sitting and balancing independently.

Also I know children that have had accidents in them. JMHO take it back and save your money. But it's up to you.

I agree with andycarmi let your son develop at his own pace, kids need the inbetween stages to build muscles strong enough to take the strain of standing upright, going from sitting/crawling suddenly to being upright without the learning to balance and struggling to stand etc etc does put a strain on little legs and backs.. they say half the fun is in the preparation the same is true with walking ..........

We had the v-tech walker when DD was little, we were bought the stride to ride walker and have also got one of those ride on things where you (or baby!) can store stuff in the seat and its got a handle on the back so baby can push it too. Boxing day boy loves them, neither him or DD have had any accidents with them (obviously you have to watch them and be careful). Don't think it made any difference to how quickly they both learned to walk, BDB is 15 months and just about walking now (although he prefers crawling).

What I have noticed DS has learned to do that DD never did though is steer the walkers. She just used to push them until she crashed into the settee/wall/whatever, but he's learned to manouvre them around any obstacles!!!

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

If its the thing that turns into a little bike, I have to say the electronics in it are fab. Our sat out in the garden for two winters, and the music still played. (despite the fact that I have twice had to go out into the garden at 2am to switch the blooming thing off)

My DD had the fisher price one round her nanas and the vtech one at ours, I actually think the vtech one went faster than the fisher price one but it didn't take her long to realise how to hold it and pull it back to gain control so that it didn't run away from her, they do learn quickly so personally I wouldn't go getting rid just yet.
