I once went to an interview in full suit, shirt, tie, polished shoes...

The three men interviewing me were in shorts and flipflops - was a very uncomfortable interview!

With that in mind I've since usually just worn a shirt and smartish jumper for the sake of feeling comfortable, so although what you're thinking looks fine, make sure your comfy!
LOL I once started at a job were the FC was introducing me to the team and a bloke walked in and put his stuff by a desk and I thought 'who the hell is this scruffy guy'. He was in cut off jeans, dirty old t shirt and flip flops too and the FC said to me 'Sarah, meet Richard our MD'!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

After working for years in a variety of admin/PA/Secretarial jobs I'd say you can't go wrong with smart black/navy trousers/skirts and a presentable blouse/top.

Next/M&S are good for this. Zara even better but more expensive. Primark do brilliant tops (printed) and skirts/trousers.

And yes, gauge what others wear but more importantly I'd say be smart. Don't dress down loads just because that's what everyone else does. Also, I'd try not to get into the habit of wearing *out of work clothes* into work, I've done that though. Just means you wear the other clothes out more!
  • I work within a professional office environment, and I flit between suit jackets and tailored skirts one day to trousers and a blouse the next; or a nice dress and cardigan etc :) I think women have a lot more scope than men who are restricted to just trousers and shirts! If you are wearing something cut above the knee, you should probably wear tights. Congratulations on the job btw :)

As a depressed office drone with a jaundiced view of the world - black and white.

You could wear the same three pairs of trousers, the same three tops and the same three jackets and as long as they can't smell you coming, you'll be fine.....
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
