teachers, do i need aus cover?

Hi, just buying my first house and being advised to get asu cover. confused about this. it seems a bit pointless as it doesnt pay out iuntil 12 weeks, how are you supposed to pay mortgage in between? dont get it. does anyone know if teachers need his cover? i know we get full pay for a long time if off ill. no i need some kind of insurance, would critical illness insurance be better?

6 months full pay and 6 months half pay means that the sickness side of ASU would be a waste of money as it would exceed the limits in the first 6 months and only just be a little under for the next 6 months.
Teachers are in demand and you are only likely to lose your job if you are sacked and an ASU is not much use to you then.
