Claiming Housing Benefit - Advice

Hi

I'm claiming Housing Benefit following a move, I moved in today and want to put in a claim with the local City Council, having informed my old Council that I am now vacant from the previous property.

The problem is that I have nothing to prove my residence in the new house, other than my obvious tenancy agreement, I'm wondering if this will be enough? I have all other relevant ID and documentation but a statement or bill just hasn't arrived and might not arrive for another three weeks.

I've contacted my bank and I'm arranging to change my account statements to come to my new address but do I need to wait until I've paid a bill or got a bank statement before I can claim housing benefit??

I've submitted the first stages of the claim online and been told that I have to submit all proofs within a month from now...if I can't I'm worried the claim won't be backdated to the day I moved in.

Housing benefit is payable from the Monday after the claim is received. It will be back-dated to this date when the "proofs" are received and dealt with.

Make claim even if you do not have all the proofs required yet.
