Going from ESA to JSA

I am currently on contribution esa while I recover from operation. Esa started on 5/9/12. I hope to be fit to look for work in a couple of months time and I was told by dwp I will then have to apply for contribution jsa.

I was wondering if I will still be eligible for contribution jsa when I switch from esa?

If so will jsa last for the remainder of the 6 months from me first claiming esa (ie 5/9/12) or will it last for the full 6 months from when I start claiming jsa?

Conts are based on tax years 2009/2010, 2010/11.
What you did this year is quite irrelevant.
