I've been looking for a laptop and like this screen
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=374202&tab=specification
but not the price of the laptop.
Is the Dell with Trulife anything near this quality or is this a Sony only quality?
I find all the other glossies I've seen washed out in comparison eg HP, Toshiba, even the mac.
I was told Trulife may be too reflective.
Otherwise there is Lenovo's matte screen - anyone know if it's clear and bright? Plus any views on their customer service now that they aren't IBM any more?
many thanks.

Don't know, but the Dell is half the price, and even the non-trulife screen looks ok to me.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

have an acer laptop and a vaio with x-black screen. Can i tell a difference when they are side by side? There is but i find the acer screen fine when i am working on it.
And it certainly isn't worth double the price difference, as albertross says.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
I would never buy from stores like comet and pc world. Just wait until you have a problem and you will find out how bad they are!
I only ever recommend Dell!0 -
Thanks. As I've said elsewhere, Dell's just gone and put up their prices and won't hold to their original quote. Lenovo ditto.0

Dells prices will change again on the 12th. and will change again a few weeks after that and so on and so will other companies.
What you need to do is Pick a Spec that you are happy with then buy it at the cheapest price its avaible at that time.
Otherwise you will never get a pc at this rate, as prices change all the time and will continue to do so week in week out, going up, going down.0 -
just bought a Dell with Truelife 1400x900 res. Next week I'll see if that was a mistake or not.
So the rest of you can be guaranteed that Dell's prices will go down from tomorrow :-)0 -

Just had a look at the offers and they are worse than what was yesterday and 2 weeks ago.
Im predicting the next one on the 26th to be a better offer because they've gone up twice last 2 times.0 -
I've just received my Dell with Truelife and my initial reaction is I've made a mistake. It's not as sharp as I hoped and it's like a mirror. I was playing with it and could see the outline of my face in the screen - never a good thing at the best of times.
Will take a couple of days and if no, on to trying to get a returns no from the call centre in India. Does anyone know a quick/er way to do that?
If I go with matte, my options seem to be Acer Travelmate (read rude things about Acer on this site), Apple or IBM (more expensive) or a desktop. Can you still get great matte desktop screens and where would be a good instore place to look. Comet or JLewis only have a few on display.0
