Yes, it's smaller and lighter with a slight re-design. Keeps all the features of the original, and is available in more colours.

It has 4 levels of adjustable brightness (makes a difference to battery life and can also reduce strain on the kids' eyes) along with some other new wireless features that may or may not be of use.

There is someone selling Silver Nintendo DS consoles for £57.99 or best offer. I've just ordered two, and am awaiting them being delivered next week (Fingers crossed) Their supplier is Argos, so I've got my fingers crossed. Don't think there is much difference between DS and DS lite other than width - I could be wrong. Think DSLite is thinner by around 1/3rd. To compensate for buying the DS I'm also considering buying character vinyl skins for the consoles. Hopefully this will do the trick, and keep the kids happy whilst saving a bit of cash - especially as I'm having to buy two. Will post to advise how we got on.

the ds lites at the moment are £99 at toysrus and you get a free game..My daughter got one with "meet the robinsons"..That's the cheapest I found..I think the only difference is that it's thinner as far as I can see

There is a real noticeable difference between the normal and lites, however, if you're kids have never seen a lite - I wouldn't worry. My DDs have the normal ones, yet a few of their friends have the lites, and the most noticeable difference is the brightness, the screens are much more easy to view and the clarity is much sharper - so less strain on the eye.

As for the skins, I bought some from a seller on ebay and had them customised with their names on. My DD2 was well impressed, had a spongebob design.

Thank you i was getting really baffled last night with all the deals, at the moment we are thinking of going to game today with some old ps2 games they havent played and trade them against a deal they have for the white ds lite and sims pets for £114 but then that could change:p

Another question is if there both linked together to play a game do we need 2 of the same games?

the DS lite is the way to go, smaller, lighter, brighter screens, will show higher res pictures, the power button is on the side where the DS is on the top and pressing it during play was a problem, improved battery live with the better screen brightlnes addjusments available.

Downside due to the size the GBA games now stick out at the bottom if you have one in but never mind unless you had a GBA you wont use it.

You may also want to look in to the R4 cartridage it has special powers ;)

Do games from america work in the UK ds lite, its the psp games/movies that are region coded? And would i be better buying a charger over there or to take our charger and use an adaptor to charge it?
