Buyer wants to view item an hour before it ends

Hi,
I am trying to sell an item of furniture, advertised it locally for £100 but no response so put it on ebay starting at £80. It's due to end this evening, no bids so far but 5 watchers.
Someone contacted me a few days ago asking if I'd consider ending it early for £100, I said yes but didn't hear back. Now he wants to come and view it this evening, but this'll be within an hour of the auction ending. Of course he might not want it, but if he does should I insist that he does it by bidding as it'll be so close to the auction end?
I don't mind either way, just want to get rid of it, but don't want to do anything against ebay rules or annoy any other potential bidders.

Did he send you the comms today? Hmm, if so, I'd be inclined to "oh sorry I didn't see this until after the auction ended" on him.
If it sells to someone else, no problem, if it doesn't, then you can offer it to him anyway, although he may only want to pay £80 at that point (but you'd probably do it without the hassle of relisting).
I don't think you can end an auction with less than 24 hours to go if there are bids on it anyway, so the problem might be out of your hands by then."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -
IMO the person viewing it if I read this correctly offered you £100 and will now be hoping to get it for £80 if no one has bid and will state that you started it £80 so is likely to haggle.
Of course if people bid, it could get messy, if you do get your viewer to bid and they win don't let them use paypal to pay you and then "collect" the item as you will I suspect get a INR shortly after.0
