There may be a good reason why the name of the poster to whom you are responding is made up they way it is.

    Care to elaborate?

I have never said that it didn't occur

    Yes you did.
You haven't been mis-sold a holiday unless you can prove you've been mis-sold a holiday.

You were aware the OP could not prove this, thus you said it did not happen.

Actually I think you misread what he had put

I read it the same way as ThumbRemote.

He's saying something didn't happen until it's proved to have happened.

    Which is utterly absurd.

Yes, but look at the context in which I'm saying it.

You come on this forum and say you were mis-sold a holiday and explain your reasons why.Do I believe you? Sure, why wouldn't I.

However, you go to Thomas Cook and say you were mis-sold a holiday, suddenly you have to prove you were mis-sold a holiday.

Why is it "absurd" to have to prove an allegation of mis-selling a product? I have no reason not to believe the OP, and to be honest it doesn't affect me so I don't care either way. However, it has financial implications to TC so of course the OP would have to prove the holiday was mis-sold.

Ultimately it doesn't matter whether the holiday was mis-sold or not, if the OP can't prove it they don't have a leg to stand on.

Basically, you are doing nothing more than stating the blindingly obvious.

This is a vent and warning forum so the OP came here to warn/vent.

And you did, in your first response, make the absurd statement that something was not mis-sold until it has been proven to be mis-sold. That's what you said. You may have meant something more sensible (if completely obvious) but that is what you actually said.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on that one. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't prove something happened how can you say it happened? You could be told you've won the lottery, but until you saw some sort of proof in an official capacity would you believe it to be true!?

Bottom line, taking the OP at their word, the sales rep should have been more clued up, but then if the OP had their doubts (as they clearly did) they should have got it in writing that excursions were included.

    Never mind, such is life.
  • I think the last dozen posts or so go a long way to explaining what MAY have happened to the OP.

Staff who didn't know what they were doing/saying and a customer who got "confused" as a result.

Has the OP actually carried out further checks to see if excursions are or are not included ???

    Hi,

I am literally just about to check through paperwork (would have done it sooner but I have an epic commute all week and everythings metal tinned away)

Fair enough that a mistake could be made on booking, but we specifically went back into store to double check as the brochure was different to what we had been told.

I will update as soon as I've read through everything I have.

    OK,

I've read through every single piece of paper I have and it doesn't mention excursions one way or another, included or not.

I am going to have to follow this through their complaints procedure I guess.

Thanks for the constructive replies :)
