I have some movie clips on vhs and a cam corder I want to transfer on to my pc in to a format I can email in reasonable quality, can anyone recommend suitable hardware and software for doing this. I have had a look around but everything I find has been rubbished in customer reviews
Also I have a panasonic hdc-sd9 camcorder that save in to MTS files which are massive files I need to convert these to something smaller to email to. it doesn't need to be hi def just good enough, the sort of quality of a youtube clip

Don't you have HD Writer software supplied with the Camcorder?0 -
It will either be via of the Video capture UBS dongle type things - I've used one and it provided acceptable quality from Video 8 tapes IMHO.
or you get a 3rd part to do the job, quiet a few advertise the service
Almost certainly will be too big to email anywhere - you can upload them to youtube and keep them private and provide links to those you want to share with0 -
There are loads of usb capture devices out there, all essentially do the same thing, to act as interface between source and PC. Only real difference between them is the software.
Email is not really the best way to send them. Better of by creating an account with one of the online storage (photobucket or similar, most are free for limited storage) and then upload it, give the web address and log in details to the person you want to send to.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Thanks, I got a dongle thing out of maplins to play with I'll set up an account to upload the stuff when it's done. I might even burn it on to a dvd and post it, will probably be easier.Nothing to see here, move along.0
