I sold an item 3 weeks ago, cash on collection only.
She paid by Pal pal the next day (fair enough)
She THEN asked if parcels 2 go could pick it up.
Fine i said but no one in till 7pm Mon/fri, out till 5 pm Sat plus it to big to wrap/box up. This is why i listed as collection only.
Heard nothing for since.
What now?

Refund her Paypal payment & send a message saying that you're sorry, you're unable to wrap/pack the item given its size and are not at home during weekdays for courier collections.
You could also say that if she still wants the item it needs to be collected in the evening and paid for in cash.0 -
As sham says.
Plus the buyer arranging their own courrier is sometimes used as a scam, as you will have no proof it's been sent if they were to make an INR claim.
Either offer to arrange to courrier yourself, or refund.0 -
I sold something collection only yesterday, then realised the person lived nowhere near me. I messaged him saying you do realise its collection only dont you? No reply, so sent another message asking if they could collect and when and that I would not ship the item. They replied "will send courier" Errrrm no you won't! I replied saying I didn't have the packaging to ship it and if I wanted to ship it I wouldn't have listed it as collection only, as I'm sure I might have got more interest if I wanted to mess about shipping it. Said I wanted to cancel the transaction and sent them the request. To my surprise they cancelled it straight away. I say surprise as I'd already been in contact with someone that had left him feedback saying he was a time waster and had really messed her about. Expected him to drag it out abit. However he has still wasted my time by bidding in the first place on a collection only item. Now I've had to second chance offer it, and the person probably thinks I was bidding on my own stuff or something and came unstuck by winning it. Although he only won by 50p which is even more annoying! I will just re list it I think if they don't want the second chance offer, as the next person down also seemed abit of a strange one
I thought I'd read somewhere on here as well about it possibly being a scam if they arrange their own courier. 0 -
Looks like I'll be re-listing my item on the next free listing weekend. Grrrr! Why do collection only items seem to attract so many time wasters? This is the second time I've been messed about by people on a collection only item. The second chance offer didn't reply to me, not even to say they didn't want it now, so wasted another 24hrs on that. Why bother bidding in the first place if they don't want it? They might not have seen the offer, but I'd imagine they probably just couldn't be bothered to reply now. I'm really iffy about the next bidder on the list, so I think I'll just hedge my bets and block all the bidders that bid on it this time, bar one, and re-list it again. So annoying!
Have you sorted your problem out now OP?0 -
I always put 'collection only' in big capitals at the start of the listing.
I also say 'I will not accept courier collection for this item - collection in person by the winning bidder only'0 -
Still heard nothing.
At the moment i have no intention of refunding her till i hear something, for all i know she is still trying to find a courier who can collect after 7pm an unwraped item! (and the best of luck!)0 -
Unfortunately this kind of experience can occur with eBay sales.
I once sold a job lot of desktop PCs. Obviously they were large, bulky, heavy items so I listed them as collection only. I included our town, county & postcode plus a link to our street via Multimap in the item listing.
About 30 minutes after the auction ended I received an e-mail. It was from the "winner" and said "I've just realised you are over 250 miles away and I don't drive".
I feel your pain !0 -
Update
Courier arrived 8pm last night with the cash! Couldn't have cared less about no wrapping!
Did a Paypal refund.
Await feedback!0 -
I sold my item today as well. Gave the other bidder a second chance offer and he collected it today. All well so far
The item was sold as faulty/not working anyway so I doubt there will be any comebacks.
I didn't think couriers collected unless it was packaged up? Or paid the money? Was it a personal pick up or something? Or Like one of those rent a man with a van type things (can't remember what they're called, saw it mentioned on here somewhere) or a proper courier?0 -
It was rent a van with a man type of thing.
I will be very surprised if the van go any further than the end of the drive, let alone London! But what do i care!! The bl**bdy item has gone!0
