I need some info,i have this large bit of glass real thick the kind you would find on a coffee table, well it was delived to me as part of something else, there is no way i can return,or claim for it,but its very minor but its there.
On the corner of one edge it has been damaged, not a huge chip as said but its noticeable,i was wondering if there was any kind of stuff out there that can be used that fills up chips clear on glass and maybe with little extra work make look like never been done.
I can live with it but as i always want things perfect was wondering if there was any products out there which sorts this,it would have to be something that make little mess and also does not make it look worse that already is.

It is posible to polish out small chips in glass or make them less noticeable at least, with preferablely one of those diamond honeing stones they sometimes sell in Lidl or failing that, some wet and dry paper, with plenty of water.I have had wine glasses with chips and taken them out this way..

Those stones from lidl do they sell them all the time or just like all there products when they get them in next time etc, also how do you use such an item on glass,i dont want to end up making it worse than is and would like advise on how best do this and with what item.thanksTreat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
If it has been chipped without shattering that would imply that it was not toughened glass.
As such you should be very careful as to what use you put it to.
What were you thinking of using it for ??0 -

Its part of a home bar so i would say it toughended glass, this small chip does annoy me a little and was wondering if i can make it better.there was a little tiny bit broken off so i was able to glue back on,but another part of it was no there,i would say with the thickness of this glass etc it must have got a good knock on the corner,i am just glad its the back side and i can put underside,as its flexible as to the way it can go on,but still will be noticeable a little, the front of the glass is rounded and maybe if the back had been the same this corner would not have been like that, maybe i can make the two back corners rounded as well, would this be easy and how do i know its toughened glass?Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
If you cannot find any special stuff you could resort to cheating and putting a plastic safety corner to cover the chip - at least it won't be as noticeable - I've got a baby coming so all my coffee tables are covered with them - you can buy them as part of a baby safety kit or Tesco sell them seperately in the Baby aisle. They are clear plastic and stick onto the corner - they wouldn't be that noticeable and if it is chipped then it might prevent someone catching themselves on the chip anyhow...
just a thought - hope it helpsTesco is my second home:j0 -
Just did a quick search on google for
toughened glass chip
and the results indicate that it can get chipped but it will be weakend. Surprised me as I thought that any damage would cause it to shatter which is one of the drawbacks of toughened glass.
Toughened glass often has a kite marked eached onto one of the corners.
Suppose it could be laminated glass?
But either way, if it were me, the thought of using an unknow piece of glass on something like a bar would worry me in case a bottle or something dropped on it.0 -
My OH managed to smash all 3 of his mother's glass nest of tables so we don't have any glass tops in our house. When my OH had a shop he had his glass shop counter replaced as it had a small chip which weakened the glass and was too dangerous with customers leaning on. I think it only cost him about £50 for the replacement glass fitted. He contacted a small independent glass firm who took the old piece away to use as a pattern (it was a semi circle).

Well using this glass with the bar is what was supplied with the bar so i cant see in being no good for the job, more so when the rrp of the whole item including bar part is £1499.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

Like the idea of that, maybe will look at them next time i go to tesco, would they fit think glass?mine is about 12mm thick, but they might just do the job if it hides the chip more and dont look silly.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
