i want to close my bank account

Options
I have repaid bank charges and over draft on my old bank account at the Lloys tsb. i was in in credit my a mear £1.40. to me that was adequate and i know i will not be using the account as i have another main bank account that i use, daily for my wages and d/d etc. so yesterday i received a online banking message that i was over drawn. this made me mad so i went to the bank whom say its from charges for 6 days at the start of August. as my debt with this bank was cleared on the 6th August. I was disgusted they had charged me this. I paid the over drawn money and the account has nothing in. at all. not one penny. I have asked for them to close the account, so the teller went off to close the account but came back and said. the account has a £10 over draft on the account, and it can not be closed until this said over draft is taken off the account??? surely the account is dead. its got no money in it. and i never will put money in it. the teller as now decided to close it with the aid of the manager and send me a statement to that effect. this was Tuesday... today wednesday i get a online message that the account is close to the £10 overdraft and needs to be made sure the account as money in it to aid this. ?? so why again was this not closed Tuesday and why not just closed Grrr

Do lloyds charge daily when you are overdrawn?
If so then there could be 6 days worth of charges from Aug or even from previous months.. Till you cleared it off on the 6th.
If there is a debit balance on the account. they won't be able to close it till its either at zero or got a positive balance. That can be refunded.
Perhaps there were further pending charges to come through, which is why they can't close it.
Perhaps better calling or sending a message to them as to why the branch cannot close the account.
That way you should get someone who will know what they are talking about and not someone at a branch, who clearly does not know what to do. That includes manager as well.....
