Credit Card ... Late Payment/Credit Report Help Please

My friend has a credit card she pay's in full every month. She made a mistake this month and missed the payment on the 28th. They charged her the fee and interest etc. She paid in full today. Its the first time this has ever happened.

Will it show on her credit report?

Also if it does how long does it take to "drop off"

Thank you :)

I may be reported it may not, depends on the card company.

It will stay on the record for 6 years if reported. One late payment against an otherwise good record is negliable.

Tell her to ring the company, ask nicely, if its her first offence they may
Just refund if its her first offence.

6 years on the credit file,

Tell her it would be wise to set up a standing order/dd, this may sway them into refunding her and it will save it ever happening again.

    ASAP
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Thank you, I don't think its the fee concerning her. More the damage to her credit report?

Not to worry too much if it was just one off occasion..
Once missed Only paying in full still will accumulate trailing interest. That needs to be paid as well to avoid additional interest. Have seen posts that the company has even waived off the interest for such one off case.. But it will get reported (as I believe its just an automated process) and stay on the report as suggested by others.

My Dad has accidentally been late with single payments on a few cards over the years, and they've always waived the fee and interest as it's a "one-off" offence and he normally always paid in full and on-time.

I would not expect a single late payment on an otherwise impeccable credit record would cause too much damage, but you never know.
