how to fill and tab - mac excel 2011

When a word that you have typed into a cell comes up I normally highlight and press enter to fill the current cell with that word, however I find it annoying that the cursor then goes onto the next line (after inserting the desired/highlighted word) and not onto the cell across (column).

Q) Is there any way to highlight the suggested word, have it entered into the current cell where you are typing and then have the cursor jump into the next cell across?

Not sure on Macs, but in 2003 version it's Tools > Options select the Edit tab and change the "Move selection after enter".

Excel - preferences - edit then choose across instead of down.

Or use the > cursor
